Requiescat in pace, referrer list
The Yaywastaken referrer list was a neat toy, but apparently I publicized it overmuch. The enthusiastic adoption of it by my friends and their friends and their friends and so on has led to a point where it was significantly delaying the loading of the site.
In its place is the 24-hour referrals list generated by Antville itself, which I have placed as an option under the menu on the left. The output is not quite as friendly as the yaywastaken script, but it doesn't make the page load too slowly, and that's what counts.
new and old goodies!
The top menu is working! Due to limitations of the goodies exploit, I decided to just make the faq a blog topic, so click on the faq link to see the first of several entries in that topic. FAQ entries will not appear on the front page.
The guestbook is back on its own page, but it needs some cosmetic touching up, which I will get around to soon.
The bio page is still under construction, but at least there is something there when you click on it.
Things are coming along nicely. I'm having fun learning to be an antville power user. If you take the time to delve into the workings of the system, there's a lot of stuff you can do that isn't typically possible with a free hosted-blog service.
Look for more content and a lot less site updates starting tomorrow! Thanks for visiting!
can you tell i like green?
OK, the design is finally settling into something I am reasonably comfortable with. I know it's very green and monochromatically mellow, but that's actually a good thing.
It's a very soothing respite from my soul-sucking, stress-inducing, feng shui disaster of a workplace.
You'll notice the referrals list has moved to the bottom of the page. Due to problems with the server-side script (which I can't change), it wasn't word-wrapping unfriendly URLs correctly, so it has been dumped somewhere where it will play nice with the rest of the layout.
Just think of it as extra incentive to read the older stories.
I hope to have the menu working by the end of the day, and then I'll get back into posting actual content instead of all these annoying site updates.
